For those of you who haven’t come across Nigel T Packer before, Nigel runs an Internet Marketing consultancy company called Business for Business in Port Talbot. They are a team of experts from the field of search engine optimisation, web promotion, user experience etc.
I’m not usually a fan of seminars on these topics as other seminars on this topic are often full of the same old out of date techniques that any school boy can pick up off the web or out of a book, and any web site company worth their salt should already know.
However, I was quite impressed with how Nigel delivered the presentation (and I’m not usually easily impressed). His delivery was excellent, clear concise and to the point, and pitched at the right level for the audience, yet managed to cover quite a wide range of techniques for improving web site usage.
One reason I was so impressed was not just the Internet marketing techniques themselves, as we already adopt many of them here at rcthosting, but because of the enthusiasm he showed for this often overlooked area. Secondly Nigel covered not only the HOW, but also the WHY. He certainly had a number of business owners in the audience nodding and thinking of what they were going to do after leaving the seminar. I can just imagine how many of those businesses contacted their current web design company soon afterwards wanting to adopt many of the Internet marketing techniques mentioned in the seminar.
For any business owner to adopt these techniques in their web site or Internet marketing obviously has a cost. At RCTHosting we try to give the client a balance of web site features verses the cost of the web site. We have found through experience that whilst there are many many techniques that could be adopted quite often the client either doesn't have the money to invest in them or just doesn't see the return on investment of adopting them. Business owners should perhaps think not whether they can afford to adopt these techniques but whether they can afford not to adopt them with the loss of sales.
If as a business owner you want to increase your business coverage with web site marketing and you have the finances to do it in there difficult times, then I would recommend giving Nigel a call. Yes, all such consultancy does come at a cost, and many of the smaller sole trader business that we deal with will be put off by this. However remember that instead of thinking whether you can afford to adopt these techniques, think about whether they can afford not to?
